Ah, Tuesday. Tuesday is setup day for staff. I thought about waking up early to get a few more snarfs in before work started, but the alternative was sleep and sleep won out overwhelmingly. So, instead, I spent the morning sleeping, eating, and writing postcards:
We all met in the hotel lobby later in the morning, where we admired the terrariums. Then we headed over to the Washington State Convention Center where we waited around a long time for one of the employees to show us around. The building was so quiet and empty, and we knew it would be the last time we’d see it like that!
I ducked out at lunchtime and retrieved my frozen items from the cooler the bell hops were keeping… only to find the patties were no longer frozen. Darn it. Apparently giving it to the bell hops to put in their cooler (the only option given to me at the front desk) is not the way to keep something frozen. I had some applesauce and saltines instead. I tried making some soup but it either didn’t taste good to begin with or I overcooked it in the microwave and that’s why it didn’t taste good.
Here’s the lovely start of sunset view from my hotel room window:
I worked setting up onsite until after 5:45 then rushed back to the hotel room to change and eat something before going to dinner with the staff and board. I had plain squash-filled ravioli that I could actually eat because they gave it to me without any of the sauce or seasonings. The dinner went long, as usual, and there was a strange post-dinner meeting about the conference. So I went back to my room and made some plans for how to get things to work for me. I went to bed feeling anxious but prepared.
