I didn’t really travel far to get to BrickFair, but it was a significant event. So I’m going to bend my own rules a little and link to my writeup of BrickFair 2010, the “unofficial” LEGO Convention in Northern Virginia.

Hi Kate. It was nice meeting you at Brickfair (my son was the one w/the other HP MOCs + James May’s house). Do you ever come to WAMALUG meetings? The next meeting is Sept 11th at the Tysons library. Perhaps we will see you there sometime and can discuss the new HP sets that will be coming out soon from TLG. Here’s the website – http://wamalug.com/
Best, Suzanne
Hi! It was great meeting you & your family :-) I have yet to make it to a WAMULUG meeting *blush* It’s actually #57 on my current list of 101 Goals in 1001 Days. The problem is, I’m either out of town on the days of the meetings or volunteering at my local library (my volunteer days at Pohick are Saturdays). But I remember seeing in an e-mail a few months ago that there’s going to be one on a Sunday in… October, I think it is? So I stand a good chance of actually being able to go to that one! Question (from a shy newbie): are we supposed to bring things we’re building or is it okay to come and not bring anything? How does it work? How formal is it? I can never tell from the photos and I’m such a lurker.
A lot of folks will bring a set to assemble or a MOC in progress. But definitely not everyone. At this past meeting, a bunch of people ended up playing the new Lego HP game for an hour. If you don’t have anything you want to bring, you just go from table to table and ask others what they are working on. That usually gets them talking… It is not formal at all. There is no official meeting. Come when you want. Talk to whomever seems approachable. Leave when you feel like it. Most folks are quiet but friendly. Hope to see you in Oct! – Suzanne
