This is a scene from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince where Harry goes to the Room of Requirement (i.e. the lost and found room) to hide his potions textbook. This one was a lot of fun. I got to go through my LEGO and put a lot of random stuff in there. Lots of elements aren’t permanent, so every time I add them in, they are in slightly different locations. Each building/dressing of the room is completely unique 🙂
Finished MOC: Seven Potters

The Seven Potters scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows where Fleur, George, Fred, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny use Polyjuice to appear like Harry so he can escape from Number 4 Privet Drive safely (in theory). This is the Dursley’s kitchen, just after transformation. I thought this would be fun to do because I have so many Harry Potter sets and, therefore, so many Harry Potter minifigs.

I am working on 3 MOCs for sure for BrickFair 2010:
- Book 5- Christmas at Grimmauld Place- haven’t started it yet but hope to this week
- Book 6- Room of Requirement aka the Lost & Found Room- in progress; hope to finish it tonight
- Book 7- Seven Potters- almost finished; just waiting on a BrickLink order with a few more brown bricks for the top of the walls, an oven, and a television
I was thinking how much fun it would be to do one scene from each book, but nothing from the first four books is really jumping out at me as a “must do” right now. I thought at one point it would be fun to do the scene from POA where Lupin turns into a werewolf and Pettigrew escapes.
I’ll have to give this more thought. I have an idea for something in Book 1 right now as well. But I also really want to try and build a lighthouse. So… I might leave it at the three scenes above for now and pick the idea up later if time permits. The problem is that I’ll be away for almost 2 weeks in the middle of July. Then I’ll have a little over a week to get everything together and go to BrickFair! So I’ve got to get going on my building now. I’ve done the three small, easy ones first.
Finished MOC: Wizard Rock Concert

I made a MOC vignette of the second Harry Potter Wizard Rock concert I ever attended at Patrick Henry Library in Northern Virginia. The MOC features the Remus Lupins and Draco and the Malfoys. It’s not completely done (Alex still needs a guitar and I might change the flag or add a few more fangirls). Maybe I’ll change out some hands as well. But I’m happy with it as-is.

I made this for my family on Valentine’s Day. It’s a big red heart, our recent snow, and… my family in LEGO!
New Table
January 31, 2010
During the last week of December, I did a lot of cleaning/organizing. I managed to tackle about a third of a my room (and by now, it’s all in shambles again LOL). But one of the big accomplishments was getting my dining room table out of storage and clearing a spot for it. Now I have a place to work on LEGO that isn’t the carpet/floor.
Order from the LEGO store
September 11, 2009
In a time where it seems the whole world is buying and playing with the Fire Brigade, the newest creator set, I have only just purchased my very first set of the series: Green Grocer. Yes, I’m several years behind the times. So what’s new? I’m poor and trying to save up for Infinitus. So sue me. Or, don’t, because I don’t have money. BUT the LEGO Store online cut its price $30 and after so many years of drooling over these sets, I decided I finally had to have one. The sets are more complex than anything else I’ve ever made, and they contain interesting things I’ve never thought of doing before. Plus the parts are really neat. I would have liked Cafe Corner too but I’m happy with this because the roof is perfect and I like the green bricks as well.
The box came a bit damaged:
The damage is unfortunate but the box is sealed and I guess this is why the bricks come in plastic bags, right?
I also got my first Power Functions kit. I’m SO excited about this. I opened the box and immediately tried it out. The motor spins a LOT faster than I’d wanted, but I think it’ll work. I’m really, really, really excited about what I plan to do with it (see later in this post). I bought this because I wanted it for a project I have in mind and because the store online was doing free shipping for orders over $100, so it was perfect timing. And it arrived safe & sound.
I also got a little minifig city set as a free bonus! Free LEGO? Um, of course I want! With some of the projects I have in mind, I’m going to need a lot of minifigs (excluding Harry Potter and castle, I have, like 10). So this is perfect and was a happy surprise. I realize to some people bonus LEGO in orders are probably commonplace or something, but it’s a big deal to me and makes me VERY happy I ordered what I did. Yay!
Okay, so… my next big project is one I’ve had in mind for a year now. I’m calling it: Christmastime at Grimmauld Place!
Yes, I’m planning on doing just one room with a revolving tree (and lights trained on it) with presents and some, er, things you might find in the crazy, old house. And then I’m planning on doing the hallway outside that room complete with (maybe) portrait of Mrs. Black (once I figure out how to do it- I’m debating some things) and house elf heads on the walls with santa hats on. Ohhh I’m so excited. God Rest Ye Merry Hippogriffs!
I want to have it done before Christmas, while I’m still in the Christmas spirit.
The House that the Captain Built
September 11, 2009
So I learned from a recent tweet from Brian of brickworkz that James May from Top Gear (aka Captain Slow) is building a house (with some help help) made entirely of LEGO. He plans to live in it when it’s done. It would be freakin amazing to help build that. I totally understand what he means about imagination being limited by the bricks you have, too. That’s so my problem.
Great article about the concept: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1203654/Thousands-Top-Gears-James-May-helping-hand-Lego-brick-house.html
The build, in progress: http://www.archdaily.com/33604/toy-fanatic-builds-a-house-from-lego/
So as if I didn’t love the guy enough already… he has to go and be a LEGO fan as well. I’m surprised he’s not building a car out of LEGO. That would be about his speed, yeah?
The Great Gray Sort
August 31, 2009
As I took apart my MOCs from BrickFair, I began the greatest of all LEGO organizing tasks: separating old gray from new gray. It took a few days and I had to buy some new storage containers as the ones pictured weren’t big enough for old gray, but I’m done now!
I bought about $25 worth of new containers for my LEGO bricks, including a new set of drawers for plates. I’ll take photos once they’re all back in the cabinet somehow, but pretty much everything is sorted nicely and I’m proud of it all. There’s something satisfying and soothing about sorting and organizing LEGO bricks; I’ve always thought so. In fact, it was one of my very favorite things to do as a kid. I’d dump all my LEGO bricks out and organize them in the 4 divided containers my parents had given me one Christmas from IKEA. Now I’m dealing with bricks on a slightly larger scale.
