Short Stories
Contents:
These are stories developed over the years dealing with a variety of different subjects. Some were developed during classes, but each has a different style and feel. Most of them deal with different cultures.

1. What God Eats for Breakfast
Creation Date: December, 2001
Description: This time, the title came before the story! This story is told in present tense and first person- both of which are not my usual. It's important to look beneath the surface in this one... trying to understand the title in this context helps as the title is symbolically and can be used about 20 different ways :-)
2. Battlegrounds (previously called Never-ending War)
Creation Date: Fall, 2001
Description: A story about the roles and wars of doctors through two different doctors in two different time periods (1969 and 1990). For background development of this story, please see the series section.
3. A.Making Ireland's Poetry
    B.Writing 'Making Ireland's Poetry'
Creation Date: May, 2001
Description: This piece was written for part of a final project in Irish Literature class. Here, I explore the Easter Rebellion of 1916 through two marvelous players, Patrick and William Pearse, and through the poetry that has had such a role in the culture. I fell in love with the Irish culture while writing this piece, and hope I managed to at least do it a bit of the justice it deserves.
4. Third Try
Creation Date: August, 2001
Description: A piece that follows an artist's apprentice in Milan around 1489. It was basically a piece to play around with another culture and the artistic eye and mind of some true geniuses... and humans :-)
5. A New Reality
Creation Date: September, 1999
Description:This piece deals with quite a few thick concepts. First, it observes the human natures of five complete strangers thrown into a train together. Second, it (hopefully) serves as a metaphor for life. Third, it throws together typical ideas in Catholosism(saviors, destiny, evil, etc). Naming and use of names is key.
6. Cargo Cult
Creation Date: December, 1999
Description: A short piece about a cargo cult in the South Pacific. I'm really big on culture, and this was a study piece, just like Scottish Faith (below).
7. The Hawk's Feather
Creation Date: November, 1999
Description:Drawing from my Pagan side, this is a fictional commentary of change. The main character deals with the twists and turns of life as the story is spliced with IM conversations with an internet friend.
8. Scottish Faith
Creation Date: Fall, 1997
Description: A short work composed to practice the Sottish dialect. It features a Scottish fighter the night before the battle of Culloden in 1745.
9. The Five Sisters of Kintail
Creation Date: November, 2000
Description: My adaption of the tale of how the 5 mountains of Kintail came to be. This story is based on the original legend.
10. Modern Reality
Creation Date: September, 2000
Description: How man can both exist within the modern world of technology and also desipe it. A rather experimental, vivid piece with jumps and skews of reality.
